    Tacky Prom Dress

Would you let your daughter wear this dress?  The $495 prom dress is so skanky that the designer's CEO wouldn't even let his daughter wear it.  In order to buy the dress, some stores require that teenagers get permission from their parents first.  I'm completely shocked that it has been featured in the prom issues of Seventeen, YM & Teen.  Thankfully, most teenage girls think the dress is ludicrous.

"If you wore that to prom, you'd be falling out of it all night," says senior Angela Cho. "There's also hardly any material. I can't believe it costs $400. You could make it yourself if you really wanted to."

Update: Ok, the picture is gone on the original link, so here's another article with a gallery of revealing prom dresses that are currently in style.  Picture number 2 shows the dress mentioned in the above article.

    Alcohol

Modern Drunkard Magazine (via Apothecary's Drawer) features several fascinating articles on the history of alcohol around the world and in pop culture.

Space: The Wino Frontier--A look at how alcohol has affected the crew of the Enterprise over the years.  It also includes a quick guide to alien alcohol.  And if you're interested, here's a site on the bars of Star Trek.

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum --A history of pirates and drinking (my personal favorite).  "But why's the rum gone?!"

The Return of the Green Fairy--The drink favored by Professor Lodz.  Bonus: Absinthe in art.

    Prepare to lose your mind

The hasselhoffian recursion.  I never thought I'd say this, but I am absolutely mesmerized by David Hasselhoff's crotch area.  More so than David Bowie's.  Um, yeah.

You can blame robot action boy for this link.

    Geek Love

I so did not know that Nick Stahl (Ben) & Carla Gallo (Libby) from Carnivale were dating.  They've been together a long time, too.  Weird.  Here they are dressed as Johnny Cash & June Carter Cash for GQ.

    Happy Bez

                                    Bez

Bez, the "Freaky Dancer" from the Happy Mondays, won Celebrity Big Brother.  I've been watching 24 Hour Party People a lot lately (it's always on TMC extra), so I had to post this.  Apparently he's been having money problems ever since he agreed to help pay an elderly neighbor's mortgage, so the win came as a big relief to him and his family.

"At the end of the day I realize I was there for a reason, for my family and to get me out of this trouble and I couldn't ever bear the risk of losing the lot," he said.

Bez's odds of winning was 10-1.  Bookmakers Ladbrokes said it was the biggest betting shock witnessed in the show's history.  Everyone expected the teenage rapper named Kenzie (never heard of him) to win.

By the way, how many reality shows is Brigitte Nielsen on?  She's everywhere.

    Sorry

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I've been having a really bad week (don't ask).  However, the fact that Portishead is FINALLY working on a new album makes me happy.

    Pro-Desperate Housewives

People write to the FCC to support Nicollette Sheridan's famous towel dropping promo.

"Does the Radical Right "Born again" "Christian" crowd have pictures of you in a comprising position with Satan???!!!"

And if so, do they also have comprising pictures of Tony Blair?

    Fishy

Check out this fish with a human face.  Did anyone else think of Seaman when they saw this?

    3ft 8in actor needed

New Dr. Who series is having a hard time finding dwarf actors.  The reason for this is because they're currently working in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and the upcoming Harry Potter movie.

"The two big movies have snapped up the talent. It's been hard to find who we want."

    Leguizamo kicks some zombie ass

John Leguizamo talks briefly about his part in Romero's Land of the Dead.

"I've never worked in a movie where there was so much f***ing [gore]? They put, like, real guts in mannequins and then they pull at spleens and intestines..."
