The real Bionic Woman

A woman's sense of touch has been restored in her bionic arm by rerouting the nerves in her shoulder.  That's awesome...and a little creepy.

During a four-hour operation, surgeons moved nerves from her shoulder, which normally ferry signals from the hand to the brain, and redirected them to muscles in her chest area.

Four months after surgery, a patch of skin on her chest was able to feel touch, temperature and pain sensations as if they were coming from different parts of her hand and wrist.

Velcro Generation

Kids don't know how to tie their shoes, so schools are creating clubs to help them out.  It's true.  I've had to help 4th graders tie their shoes. 

After realizing several Grade 2 students hadn't yet learned how to lace up, the teachers at Salisbury Elementary School started a new club to promote the basic skill.

"Sometimes they just don't have time to do it, and if they're not given the time to practise and given the time to learn how to tie their shoes, sometimes it just doesn't happen," said phys-ed teacher Janice Boss.

You'd also be amazed at the number of students who don't know how to tell time on an analog clock.
